Schütz Musikalische Exequien
November 12 & 13, 2022 Church of the Holy Trinity, Rittenhouse Square Church of the Good Shepherd, Rosemont H. Schütz - Musikalische Exequien, Op. 7, SWV 279-281 350 years after the death of Heinrich Schütz, Choral Arts Philadelphia breathes new life into one of history's most profound German composers. Credited as the first German Requiem, hear Schütz' Musikalische Exequien as audiences would have at its premiere in 1635. |
Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium
December 31, 2022 Episcopal Cathedral J.S. Bach - Weihnachtsoratorium, BWV 248 - 'Christmas Oratorio' Ring in the New Year with the six Cantatas known as the "Christmas Oratorio" originally performed in 1733/1734 over the 12 days of Christmas, our New Years Eve concert has become a favorite Holiday tradition in Philadelphia. This performance will feature chorus, soloists, and full forces of the Philadelphia Bach Collegium baroque orchestra.

Carissimi Lost Oratorios
April 22 & 23, 2023 Church of the Holy Trinity, Rittenhouse Square Church of the Good Shepherd, Rosemont Carissimi - Queen Esther, Catalogue Undefined Carissimi - Song of Deborah, Judges 5:2-3, Catalogue Undefined Back by popular demand, Choral Arts is excited to continue its partnership with Richard Stone (co-founder and artistic director of Tempesta di Mare) to resurrect two more lost oratorios of Giacomo Carissimi, Queen Esther and the Song of Deborah. Considered the inventor of the Oratorio, Carissimi's influence on sacred, and even secular oratorios, makes its impact even today. Sponsored By
