Music for a Royal OccasionThe weddings, funerals and coronations of the English Royal Family have inspired some of greatest works in the choral repertoire, ranging from Handel’s “Coronation Anthems”, to Parry’s triumphant “I was glad” to John Tavener’s “Song for Athene”, sung at Princess Diana’s funeral. The Choral Arts Society will be joined by a dynamic, young brass ensemble from the Curtis Institute of Music for a selection of these regal works by Byrd, Purcell, Handel, Parry, Vaughan Williams, and Tavener.
