Tribute to THE FOUNDER oF CHORAL ARTS Philadelphia
the The year 2019 marks the 10th anniversary of the passing of Choral Arts’ founding Artistic Director Seán Deibler (1947-2009).
Seán had a profound impact on the choral landscape of Philadelphia as a conductor, teacher and mentor, and Choral Arts owes Seán the early success as a symphonic chorus of great ability (formerly known as Choral Arts Society of Philadelphia) that performed regularly and recorded with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
On May 25, 2019, for the memorial performance in Deibler’s honor, Choral Arts will present Brahms' Requiem, sung in English, with piano four hands, to become the first performance of this version in Philadelphia. This original version was approved by the composer himself who wanted the message of comfort for those living in grief to be immediate.
