Brahms' Requiem ReconsideredJohannes Brahms often made arrangements of his own works for piano, so that they could be experienced in a more immediate, intimate setting. Our season opens with one of these, his immortal Ein deutsches Requiem, in the composer's own one piano, four hands arrangement. Hearing this beloved masterwork as chamber music is an experience not to be missed! Other works on the program will include Wagner’s arrangement of Palestrina’s Stabat Mater and movements from Heinrich Schutz’s Musikalische Exequien - the original “German Requiem” that may have inspired Brahms.
